RICHMOND, Va. – Shaka Smart says Troy Daniels’ sprained right ankle has “made good progress since Tuesday night.”
Smart said he believes that Daniels, a senior shooting guard who made a school-record 94 three-pointers last year, will play Saturday at Winthrop.
“I don’t think he’ll be full go today at practice,” Smart said Thursday morning at his weekly press conference. “I don’t think he’s 100 percent right now, but I think there’s certainly a high likelihood that he’ll play Saturday.”
Daniels was injured in Tuesday night’s game with Wichita State when he stepped on teammate Briante Weber’s foot while chasing down an offensive rebound in the second half.
Daniels has averaged 7.5 points and shot 33 percent (5-of-15) from the field in two games this season.
