11-11 (7-5 CAA)
Player to heckle:
Jonathan Lee, Jr., G (14.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg)
The skinny:
Northeastern has been a thorn in VCU’s side since it joined the CAA for the 2005-06 season. The Huskies are 5-3 against the Rams over that period, including wins in four of the last five meetings. The two teams split a pair of games last season, including Northeastern’s 91-80 win Feb. 2, 2011 in Boston. The Rams didn’t do a particularly good job of defending the Huskies in either game. Northeastern shot 55 percent at the Siegel Center (65 percent in the second half alone) and 58 percent in the victory in Boston.

Junior guard Joel Smith torched VCU last season. The 6-foot-2 sharpshooter knocked down 10-of-12 3-point attempts in two games and averaged 20 points. Somebody should probably get a hand in his face.

Junior guard Jonathan Lee sparks Northeastern’s flex offense. He leads the team in scoring and assists and is shooting 41 percent from 3-point range.

Fast fact: VCU and Northeastern, led by Coach Jim Calhoun and the late Reggie Lewis, met in the first round of the 1984 NCAA Tournament in East Rutherford, N.J. The Rams won the game 70-69 on Rolando Lamb’s jumper at the buzzer.
